How to get a ASR9K chassis serial number

Cisco has some very strange  means for gathering  the serial# off a ASR9K chassis.  You can search on cisco dot com for various means & discussions

But if the chassis up and active you have  yet another means for gathering the serial#.

Licenses for the ASR9K IOS-XR are bound to the chassis serial #. And the sticker on the chassis that lists the part# is not the chassis serial #.

So what if you have no active license installed?

So the license file on the disk should reflect the serial number, right ?

Well here's an alternative method, just look at the license file. It should contain your specific chassis serial number.
