ipv6 and how to test ( google style )

Google has been an a big player with rolling the ball on ipv6, and been ipv6 enabled,  for at least 5+ years from what I recall.

Since ipv6 world day, the push to get ipv6 knowledge from hosting partners, network vendors, application providers, etc...... have been growing at a  slow turtle pace.

For testing if your host is  ipv6  aware, google has created a websitehttp://ipv6test.google.com

I find it ironic,  that the Google's own  ipv6test site is not on ipv6

$ host -6 www.google.com 2001:4860:4860::8888
Using domain server:
Name: 2001:4860:4860::8888
Address: 2001:4860:4860::8888#53
Aliases:

www.google.com has address 74.125.224.209
www.google.com has address 74.125.224.212
www.google.com has address 74.125.224.208
www.google.com has address 74.125.224.210
www.google.com has address 74.125.224.211
www.google.com has IPv6 address 2001:4860:4007:801::1014

and now the ipv6test site;

$ host -6 ipv6test.google.com 2001:4860:4860::8888
Using domain server:
Name: 2001:4860:4860::8888
Address: 2001:4860:4860::8888#53
Aliases:

ipv6test.google.com is an alias for ipv6test.l.google.com.
ipv6test.l.google.com has address 74.125.129.105
ipv6test.l.google.com has address 74.125.129.103
ipv6test.l.google.com has address 74.125.129.99
ipv6test.l.google.com has address 74.125.129.147
ipv6test.l.google.com has address 74.125.129.106
ipv6test.l.google.com has address 74.125.129.104
$

and  their 2nd dns server ;

$ host -6 ipv6test.google.com  2001:4860:4860::8844
Using domain server:
Name: 2001:4860:4860::8844
Address: 2001:4860:4860::8844#53
Aliases:

ipv6test.google.com is an alias for ipv6test.l.google.com.
ipv6test.l.google.com has address 74.125.129.105
ipv6test.l.google.com has address 74.125.129.103
ipv6test.l.google.com has address 74.125.129.99
ipv6test.l.google.com has address 74.125.129.147
ipv6test.l.google.com has address 74.125.129.106
ipv6test.l.google.com has address 74.125.129.104
$

 So even the leaders , do not always lead in all areas for ipv6 encouragement
